A recent study conducted by researchers at Shenzhen University in China has investigated the degradation efficiency, mechanism, and biotoxicity of ribavirin (RBV) using ferrous activated persulfate (Fe2+/PS) oxidation technology. The study found that under specific conditions, Fe2+/PS oxidation technology was able to degrade RBV with a rate of 98.70%. The study also identified the active species involved in the degradation process and proposed the degradation pathways of RBV. Additionally, toxicity assessment showed that Fe2+/PS oxidation technology effectively reduced the toxicity of RBV. This research provides insights into managing water environmental risks associated with pharmaceutical residues in the post-pandemic era. [Extracted from the article] |
