A recent study conducted at University Medical Center in New Orleans examined the treatment of burn patients in the United States. The study found that the majority of burn patients requiring ICU-level care are treated at facilities without burn centers or trauma centers. This raises questions about the quality and quantity of burn care provided outside of specialized centers. The study suggests that further research is needed to understand the validity of the data and the adherence to referral criteria for burn centers. This information is valuable for improving our understanding of burn care outside of specialized facilities. [Extracted from the article] |
