Abstrakt: A study conducted at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, Morocco, has found that melatonin, a hormone known for its antioxidant properties, can protect against neurotoxicity induced by nickel exposure in rats. The researchers injected nickel into the hippocampus of male Wistar rats and then treated them with melatonin. The results showed that melatonin improved cognitive function, reduced anxiety, and modulated oxidative stress caused by nickel exposure. These findings suggest that melatonin could be a potential therapeutic option for mitigating brain damage caused by heavy metal intoxication. [Extracted from the article]
