A recent report published in the Journal of International Medical Research discusses the treatment of complex bronchopleural fistulas (BPF), a potentially fatal complication that poses a surgical challenge. The report presents the case of a 75-year-old male patient with a history of lung cancer resection who developed complex BPFs. The researchers successfully treated the fistulas using endobronchial valve EBV placement and local argon gas spray stimulation. The study concludes that bronchoscopic treatment is a preferred method for patients who cannot undergo a second surgery, as it can improve their quality of life. [Extracted from the article] |
