Abstrakt: Researchers from the University of Birmingham have conducted a study on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) to investigate the use of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in detecting genomic intra-tumoral heterogeneity (ITH). The study found high rates of genomic ITH among the patients, with ctDNA identifying a significant proportion of tumor-specific variants. Serial sampling of ctDNA also allowed for post-treatment surveillance and early detection of treatment failure. This research contributes to the understanding of HNSCC and the potential utility of ctDNA in its diagnosis and monitoring. [Extracted from the article]
