This article discusses a study on the safety and efficacy of Artemisia annua sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) in children with seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR). The study was conducted in Inner Mongolia, China, and included 54 pediatric patients. The results showed that the SLIT group experienced significant improvements in symptom and medication scores compared to the placebo group. Adverse events were reported in both groups but were mild or moderate and did not lead to any withdrawals from the trial. The study suggests that A. annua-SLIT could be an effective and safe treatment option for children with SAR. However, the study had limitations in terms of sample size and duration, and further research is needed to explore the long-term efficacy and larger geographical areas. The authors also mention the potential use of molecular diagnosis for more accurate diagnosis in the future.
