Abstrakt: A recent study from the Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila in Saltillo, Mexico, explores the importance of certain varieties of cucurbits in enhancing health. The Cucurbitaceae family, which includes fruits and vegetables like cucumbers and bitter melons, is widely cultivated and used in various food and beverage products. The study focuses on the biological activities, such as antibacterial, antiviral, antidiabetic, and anticancer properties, of two genera within this family, Cucumis and Momordica. The research highlights the importance of the physicochemical qualities and nutritional content of each variety in determining their potential uses in functional foods and nutraceutical supplements.
