Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the University of Ferrara in Italy explored the effects of combined exposure to particulate matter (PM) and ultraviolet radiation (UV) on the skin. The study found that exposure to these environmental stressors can lead to oxidative stress, inflammation, skin barrier dysfunction, and premature aging. The researchers tested the efficacy of a topical serum containing antioxidants in preventing these effects in a human clinical trial. The results showed that the serum was able to prevent skin damage caused by PM and UV exposure, including barrier perturbation, lipid peroxidation, inflammation, and collagen loss. This study provides evidence for the use of antioxidant topical applications to protect against pollution-induced skin damage. [Extracted from the article]
