Abstrakt: A report from the Zvitambo Institute for Maternal and Child Health Research in Harare, Zimbabwe, discusses the findings of a multi-arm randomized phase II trial on malnutrition enteropathy in children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in Zambia and Zimbabwe. The trial evaluated four interventions for malnutrition enteropathy and found that teduglutide reduced biomarkers of mucosal damage, while colostrum, N-acetyl glucosamine, and budesonide had no significant effect. The study suggests that treating enteropathy may be beneficial for children with complicated malnutrition. The trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov. [Extracted from the article]
