Studies from University of South Carolina Yield New Data on Developmental Disabilities (Examining a leadership development initiative for college students with intellectual and developmental disability: A brief report).

Abstrakt: A recent study from the University of South Carolina examines the impact of inclusive college programs on students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The study focuses specifically on the potential for leadership development within these programs. Through interviews with student-employees, the study identifies four primary themes related to leadership development: character development, communication, opportunities for leading and mentoring others, and individual empowerment. The findings of the study have important implications for professionals and future research in supporting the positive impact of inclusive college programs on the lives of students with IDD.
