Abstrakt: A study conducted at the University of Nevada Las Vegas has found that radiographic measurements of thigh muscles can predict psoas muscle area and sarcopenia, a condition characterized by muscle loss. The researchers measured thigh muscle area in patients using radiographs and compared it to psoas muscle area determined by computed tomography scans. They found that patients with sarcopenia had smaller thigh muscle measurements, and certain measurements of thigh muscles were identified as predictors of both psoas muscle area and sarcopenia. These findings suggest that radiographic measurements of thigh muscles can be a reliable and easily accessible screening tool for diagnosing and treating sarcopenia. [Extracted from the article]
