A recent study conducted by researchers at Misr University for Science and Technology in Egypt explored the potential of metformin, an antidiabetic drug, as an anticancer agent for the treatment of Ehrlich carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. The study investigated the use of zein nanoparticles as a carrier for metformin to enhance its anticancer effects. The researchers found that treatment with metformin-loaded zein nanoparticles resulted in a more pronounced anticancer effect, with upregulation of certain genes and downregulation of others. These findings suggest that metformin-loaded zein nanoparticles could be a promising treatment approach for breast cancer. [Extracted from the article] |
