Abstrakt: A study conducted at the University of Cologne in Germany has shed light on the evolutionary processes of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) under therapy. The researchers used multiregion sequencing to analyze tumor phylogenies in 65 patients with SCLC. They found that chemotherapy led to increased genomic intratumor heterogeneity and spatial clonal diversity, while effective radio- or immunotherapy caused a re-expansion of founder clones with acquired genomic damage from chemotherapy. The study also identified key genomic patterns associated with drug response. This research provides valuable insights into the genomic evolution of SCLC and its response to therapy.
