Dr. Michal ¿íha recently presented his Ph.D. thesis on the phenomenon of late transposition in the Czech Republic. His research focused on why the transposition of EU laws into the Czech legal system is often delayed compared to other EU member states. Through quantitative research, Dr. ¿íha found that the Czech Parliament is overwhelmed with legislative proposals, and the transposition process can take more than 20 months on average. Qualitative research revealed that the main factors behind the delays are the Czech social-cultural framework, reluctance to invest effort in transposition, and a low perceived return on investment. Dr. ¿íha's research was highly appreciated for its originality and use of both quantitative and qualitative methods, and he has now earned his Ph.D. title. [Extracted from the article] |
