Abstrakt: This article discusses the history of Len Callender's club, the Buccaneer, in 1950s Soho. Len Callender, a Jamaican entrepreneur, opened the club as part of his nightclub business in London. The club attracted a diverse clientele, including everyday workers, showbusiness figures, criminals, and sex workers. The club featured jazz music and dancing, and musicians such as Count Basie, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday made social visits. The club eventually closed around 1960, leaving a void for jazz musicians in Soho. [Extracted from the article]
