This article discusses the importance of promoting entomology and conservation interests among at-risk children through arthropod workshops. The decline of arthropod populations worldwide poses a threat to ecosystems, and public support for conservation is crucial. At-risk children, who often face educational disadvantages, can become environmental advocates if they are exposed to the importance of arthropods and their ecosystem services. The article presents the results of field testing workshops conducted with at-risk children, showing that their attitudes towards insects and careers in biology can be positively influenced through engagement and education. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of these attitude changes and how knowledge and engagement impact participation in conservation activities. [Extracted from the article] |
