Abstrakt: Researchers from the University Veracruzana in Mexico have conducted a study on peptide hormones and their role in regulating blood pressure, volume, and electrolytes. The study focuses on the counter-regulatory axis of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), which has been associated with inflammatory and fibrotic diseases. The researchers evaluated the effects of different peptides, such as Angiotensin-(1-7), angiotensin-(1-9), and alamandine, on inflammation and fibrosis in various in vitro and in vivo studies. They also discuss the potential of other functional peptides as targets for further study. The study provides an overview of the importance of the RAS in resolving inflammatory and fibrotic diseases and offers insights into potential treatments. [Extracted from the article]
