A recent research study conducted at Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, India, focused on the challenges of repairing wide cleft palates. The researchers used a combination of double transposition flaps and intravelar veloplasty in their patients. The study analyzed the outcomes of 9 cases, with an average age at the time of surgery of 17 months. The researchers found that the double transposition flap procedure was safe and effective, although it did create an anterior palatal fistula that required closure later. This research provides valuable insights into the treatment of cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies. [Extracted from the article] |
