Abstrakt: A recent report discusses the surprising detection of phosphine (PH3) in the clouds of Venus, as this gas was not expected to be present in Venus' oxidized atmosphere. The source of this phosphine remains unknown, and various potential production pathways have been explored, including gas reactions, geochemistry, and photochemistry. However, none of these pathways can fully explain the observed abundance of phosphine. The detection of phosphine on Venus highlights the complexity of chemical processes in its environment and calls for further research and quantification of phosphorus species in the planet's atmosphere.
