Abstrakt: A pilot study conducted at the University of Michigan examined the perceptions of caregivers and bedside nursing staff regarding the sleep quantity and quality of critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The study found that there was no significant difference between the ratings of caregivers and nursing staff in terms of sleep quality, duration, number of naps, room temperature, sound, or light. However, nursing staff reported more room entries than caregivers. Caregivers rated their child's sleep in the PICU as lower quality compared to sleep at home. The researchers suggest that this agreement between caregivers and nursing staff may facilitate further research and interventions to improve sleep in the PICU. [Extracted from the article]
