Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted at the University of Florida examined the impact of persistent poverty on the incidence and outcomes of oral and pharyngeal cancers. The researchers analyzed data from the SEER database and found that patients living in areas of persistent poverty had higher incidence rates and lower 5-year survival rates compared to those in non-persistent poverty. Additionally, patients from persistent poverty were more likely to present with advanced-stage cancer and had a higher risk of mortality. The study highlights the need for a multidimensional approach to improve survival rates for patients in persistent poverty. [Extracted from the article] |
