A recent study conducted by researchers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) explores the use of the paramedian forehead flap (PMFF) for repairing high flow anterior skull base cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks. The study focuses on a case involving a 55-year-old African American male cocaine abuser who experienced a recurrence of his CSF leak after necrosis of a previous repair. The patient underwent extensive psychiatric treatment and was subsequently repaired using a pedicled de-epithelialized PMFF. The study provides a detailed discussion on the use of this technique for repairing complex refractory CSF leaks. [Extracted from the article] |
