A recent study conducted at the University of Glasgow explored the impact of a hands-on simulated aneurysm clipping workshop on medical students' and junior doctors' perceptions of neurosurgery. The workshop involved hydrogel three-dimensional printed aneurysms clipping using surgical microscopes and was facilitated by consultant neurosurgeons. The study found that 82% of participants reported a positive impact on their perception of neurosurgery after the workshop, with many expressing that it dispelled preconceived fears and improved their understanding of the specialty. The researchers concluded that these types of workshops can effectively influence perceptions of neurosurgery and help individuals consider it as a potential career. However, the long-term impact of such workshops remains uncertain. [Extracted from the article] |
