This article discusses a study conducted on the effects of home and over-the-counter whitening agents on dental composites. The study found that different whitening agents had varying effects on the surface roughness and microhardness of the composites. Some composites were more negatively affected by the whitening agents, while others were less affected. The study emphasizes the importance of professional supervision during teeth whitening procedures and raises concerns about the potential harm of unattended whitening with over-the-counter products.
