This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, presents a systematic review of the current state of deep learning applications in the diagnosis of coeliac disease. The review utilized various databases and applied PRISMA guidelines to identify relevant research articles. Eight studies were found to be suitable for inclusion, all published between 2017 and 2023, and focused on using deep learning techniques for coeliac disease diagnosis or assessing disease severity. The results showed that deep learning techniques have the potential to improve accuracy and reduce clinician bias in coeliac disease diagnosis, but further research is needed, particularly with more extensive and diverse datasets.
