This article discusses a study comparing two commercially available artificial intelligence (AI) systems for predicting the histology and size of colorectal polyps during colonoscopy. The study found that both AI systems had similar sensitivity to experts in diagnosing adenomatous polyps, but lower specificity. The AI systems also had similar performance in sizing polyps compared to experts. The study suggests that using these AI systems for strategies like resect and discard may result in slightly more hyperplastic polyps being resected compared to relying solely on expert diagnosis.
