Abstrakt: This article, titled "Endoscopy in Pregnancy: Is it safe?", discusses the safety and efficacy of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy in pregnant patients. The study, conducted at the Mohamed VI University Hospital, analyzed the medical records of 32 pregnant patients who underwent endoscopic procedures between November 2019 and November 2023. The procedures performed included gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy, with indications ranging from hematemesis to ulcerative colitis flare-ups. The majority of procedures were diagnostic, and most patients were in their second trimester. The study found limited data on the safety of endoscopy in pregnancy worldwide, but concluded that with valid indications, GI endoscopy is generally without risk for pregnant patients. The authors recommend further research studies in this area. [Extracted from the article]
