This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, discusses a customized approach to the management of Zenker's diverticulum (ZD). The authors report two unique cases where technical challenges were overcome using modified techniques. In the first case, a long and tortuous ZD was treated using sequential mucosal incision, submucosal dissection, and myotomy. In the second case, the presence of a Deep Brain Stimulation implant necessitated the use of a novel device that utilized bipolar radiofrequency and microwave energy. Both patients experienced symptom relief and had no complications on postoperative swallow studies. [Extracted from the article] |
