Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, compares the efficacy of different lithotripsy techniques in the treatment of difficult biliary stones. The study, conducted at a single Italian tertiary center, retrospectively evaluated patients treated with mechanical lithotripsy (ML), extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), and cholangioscopy-guided electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL). The results showed that cholangioscopy-guided EHL had a significantly higher success rate compared to traditional lithotripsy techniques. The presence of multiple stones was found to be a factor related to the failure of traditional lithotripsy. [Extracted from the article]
