Abstrakt: This article, titled "Endoscopic approach of a de novo perivaterian abscess," discusses the case of a 53-year-old patient who presented with a persistent fever and worsening clinical condition. Despite initial negative blood and urine cultures and antibiotic treatment, the patient did not respond. CT and MRI scans revealed thickening in the D1-D2 and cystic elements between the head of the pancreas and the duodenal wall. The authors performed an upper GI endoscopy and CE-endoscopic ultrasound, which confirmed the presence of a perivaterian abscess. To drain the abscess, a guidewire was inserted under EUS guidance, and a fistula was created between the duodenal lumen and the abscess. The patient experienced rapid improvement and subsequent radiological imaging showed normal findings. The article includes a video demonstrating the procedure. The authors of the article are M. T. Koutroumpi, D. Kalos, G. Kallimanis, and T. Thomaidis. [Extracted from the article]
