Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, examines the quality of colonic preparations before colonoscopy using three different agents: polyethylene glycol (Moviprep), Sodium picosulfate with Magnesium citrate (picosalax), and Macrogols (Meroken). The study included data from 206,964 patients who underwent colonoscopy between 2016 and 2021. The results showed that excellent colonic preparation was more common among patients prepared with Moviprep, while good preparation was more common among patients prepared with picosalax. Additionally, patients aged 61 and older had higher rates of fair and poor preparation grading. The study suggests that these differences and age-related factors should be considered when prescribing colonic preparation agents. [Extracted from the article]
