This article discusses gastritis cystica profunda (GCP), a rare condition characterized by cystic dilatation and foveolar hyperplasia in the mucosa and submucosa. The cause of GCP is unknown, but it has been associated with gastric surgery, Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic gastritis, or biliary reflux. The diagnosis of GCP is based on histological examination, which reveals cystic dilatation of the glands, foveolar hyperplasia, and inflammatory infiltrate. The article presents a retrospective case series study of six patients with GCP, analyzing their characteristics, symptoms, endoscopic findings, treatment, and recurrences. The study highlights the need for further research to determine the neoplastic potential of GCP lesions and establish the best treatment and follow-up protocols. [Extracted from the article] |
