This article discusses a new advanced imaging technique called detective flow imaging (DFI) that can be used for the differential diagnosis of solid pancreatic tumors (SPT). The study compared the findings obtained by DFI-EUS to contrast-enhanced harmonic EUS (CEHEUS) and found that DFI-EUS allows for the evaluation of vascularization patterns of pancreatic tumors similar to CEHEUS, but without the need for contrast agents. The study included 88 patients with SPT, and the final diagnosis included adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumor, inflammatory mass, pancreatic squamous cell carcinoma, and pancreatic necrosis. The agreement regarding the vascular pattern of SPT between CEHEUS and EUS-DFI was reached in 97.7% of the cases. Overall, DFI-EUS shows promise as a non-invasive and contrast-free imaging technique for the diagnosis of pancreatic tumors. [Extracted from the article] |
