This article discusses the performance and adverse events of motorized power spiral enteroscopy (PSE) in a case series at a single tertiary endoscopy center in Eastern Europe. The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of PSE and reported the adverse events experienced during the procedure. A total of 20 procedures were performed on 17 patients, with a technical success rate of 81% for the antegrade route and 83% for the retrograde route. The overall diagnostic accuracy was 81.82%, and the median insertion time was 75 minutes for the antegrade approach and 70 minutes for the retrograde approach. Adverse events were found in 35% of patients, with 23% experiencing severe complications. However, no perforations or deaths occurred in the patient cohort. The authors conclude that further technological development and innovation of endoscopes, along with proper training for endoscopists, are needed to ensure patient safety.
