Abstrakt: This article discusses the long-term outcomes of using fully covered self-expanding metal stents (FCSEMS) for the treatment of refractory benign main pancreatic duct strictures (MPDS) in chronic pancreatitis (CP). The study found that FCSEMS are a viable alternative to multiple plastic stents, offering benefits such as avoiding multiple stent exchange procedures and improving patient compliance. The research evaluated the long-term success of FCSEMS in managing MPDS and found that they were associated with durable clinical success in over two-thirds of patients, with a low incidence of de-novo strictures. The study concludes that strictures that resolve at the time of stent removal rarely require further intervention. [Extracted from the article]
