Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, presents the findings of a retrospective multicenter case-control study comparing the safety and efficacy of conventional and segmented fully covered self-expanding metal stents (fcSEMS) for the treatment of esophageal stenosis. The study included 158 patients with both benign and malignant stenosis who received either an unsegmented or segmented fcSEMS. The results showed that both types of stents had a 100% technical success rate, but segmented fcSEMS had a lower rate of severe stent-associated adverse events compared to conventional fcSEMS. The study suggests that segmented fcSEMS may be a safer option for patients. [Extracted from the article]
