Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, discusses the efficacy of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in treating variceal hemorrhage (VH) in patients with liver cirrhosis. The study, which included 429 patients, found that TIPS treatment significantly improved six-month survival rates and reduced rebleeding rates in both gastric and esophageal VH compared to standard of care. The findings suggest that TIPS can be an effective treatment option for preventing rebleeding and improving survival in patients with VH. [Extracted from the article]
