Abstrakt: This article discusses the gender disparities in the field of gastroenterology, specifically focusing on the differences in clinical and academic training and positions between male and female gastroenterologists in three Balkan countries. The survey found that female gastroenterologists were less likely to have children compared to their male counterparts, and they reported mastering endoscopic procedures later in their clinical training. However, there were no differences in age, marital status, employment, narrow field of interest, involvement in advanced endoscopy, or chief positions between the two groups. The study concludes that gender inequity exists in the field, particularly during the training period, which coincides with the expected childbearing age for women. [Extracted from the article]
