Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, evaluates the impact of different bariatric treatment methods for obesity on the condition of the esophageal and gastric mucosa. The study involved 111 patients with morbid obesity who underwent surgery, with 57 patients being examined. The functional state of the stomach was assessed preoperatively, and the morphological changes in the esophageal and gastric mucosa were evaluated postoperatively. The results showed that morbid obesity can lead to functional and morphological changes in the stomach, and the choice of bariatric treatment should consider the initial state of gastric acid production and the morphological assessment of the gastric mucosa to predict possible complications and ensure the normalization of stomach function.
