Abstrakt: This article discusses a randomized clinical trial comparing two approaches for treating symptomatic choledocholithiasis, a condition characterized by the presence of gallstones in the bile ducts. The study compared the outcomes of patients who underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) alone versus ERCP combined with endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD). The results showed that performing EUS-GBD during the same endoscopic procedure as ERCP reduced the risk of subsequent gallstone-related hospital readmissions without increasing the risk of adverse events or prolonging hospital stays. The study suggests that this combined approach may be beneficial for non-surgical patients with symptomatic choledocholithiasis. [Extracted from the article]
