This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, examines the diagnostic yield and outcomes of gastroscopy in young individuals compared to older adults. The study analyzes a large cohort of patients who underwent gastroscopy over a five-year period and categorizes them into different age groups. The findings reveal that young patients commonly undergo gastroscopy for epigastric pain and dyspepsia, and they have a higher rate of gastritis and H. Pylori-associated gastritis compared to older adults. Additionally, precancerous lesions were detected in a small percentage of young patients. The study highlights age and specific indications as predictors of clinically significant findings in young patients. [Extracted from the article] |
