Abstrakt: This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the effects of adding intravenous lidocaine to propofol-based sedation for patients undergoing colonoscopy. The study analyzed eight randomized controlled trials and found that the addition of lidocaine resulted in a significantly lower dosage of propofol required for sedation and a shorter awakening time. However, there was no significant difference in procedure time or the risk of adverse events between the lidocaine and placebo groups. Subgroup analysis showed that the benefits of lidocaine were particularly pronounced in patients under the age of 18. Overall, the findings suggest that incorporating lidocaine into propofol-based sedation for colonoscopy can be beneficial, especially for younger patients. [Extracted from the article]
