Abstrakt: This article discusses a randomized trial that examined the use of cold snare endoscopic resection for large colon polyps. The study aimed to determine if cold resection without electrocautery reduces the risk of severe adverse events (SAEs) and provides complete resection. The trial involved 660 patients and found that while there was no significant safety benefit of universal cold resection, cold resection did have a lower SAE rate compared to hot resection when accounting for a high crossover rate. However, cold resection was associated with a higher rate of polyp recurrence, particularly for advanced pathology. The study concludes that the universal application of cold resection for large non-pedunculated colorectal polyps is not supported. [Extracted from the article]
