Filmmaker Christopher Jason Bell's web series, "Miss Me Yet," explores cycles of media preoccupation by examining the presidency of George W. Bush. The series, made entirely of archival footage, takes viewers from the contested 2000 election through Bush's eight years in office and highlights the rehabilitation of his image in the last decade. Bell critiques both Bush and the media, using montages of found material to construct a meaningful narrative and analyze the dominant commercial forms of representation. The series invites viewers to reflect on the media's (mis)representation of historical events and the role of televised rituals in electoral democracy. [Extracted from the article] |
