Abstrakt: This study focuses on the relationship between disability, hate crime, and US policies, emphasizing the earning gap experienced by disabled individuals. Hate crimes against disabled persons can have serious consequences, including theft of vital resources for medical expenses and assistive devices. By examining government policies and the correlation between types of disabilities and earnings disparities, this research identifies that income inequality is critical in exacerbating hate crimes related to disabilities. Data from 2016 to 2020 shows a growing trend in disability hate crime incidents, indicating potential policy gaps. The findings also reveal a consistent earning gap between those with and without disabilities, highlighting the need for targeted financial assistance. A moderate positive relationship exists between disability hate crime incidents and the earnings gap, suggesting that reducing the gap may help mitigate hate crimes. Furthermore, higher education levels lead to a broader earnings gap, emphasizing the need to support individuals with disabilities. Although the US federal budget for disability support increased during the study period, significant pay gaps exist among different types of impairments, particularly for learning disabilities. To promote inclusivity and equality, we recommend prioritizing the reduction of the earnings gap and providing greater financial assistance for those with learning disabilities.
