A study conducted by the University Grenoble Alpes has found that total pancreatectomy (TP) can be a life-saving solution for high-risk patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy (PD). The aim of the study was to compare the outcomes of TP and PD in high-risk patients and evaluate the implementation of a risk-tailored strategy. The results showed that TP resulted in shorter hospital stays and lower risks of post-pancreatectomy hemorrhage compared to PD. The study concluded that the use of TP as part of a risk-tailored strategy can be life-saving for high-risk patients. [Extracted from the article] |
