A study conducted by researchers at Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia explored the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on end-of-life care provided by home care staff. The study found that measures such as social isolation and increased reliance on telemedicine significantly altered the dynamics of patient care. Despite these challenges, healthcare professionals reported satisfactory symptomatic care and control for patients, with adequate therapeutic efforts in managing pain, dyspnea, and delirium. The study also revealed that the pandemic impeded treatment for approximately 24% of end-of-life patients. Overall, professionals reported a predominantly positive affect and an adequate quality of life. [Extracted from the article] |
