A new study conducted by researchers at the University of Glasgow explores the relationship between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cancer outcomes. The study found that individuals with CKD have a higher incidence and mortality rate for most types of cancer. The researchers also discovered that lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was associated with higher odds of presenting with advanced cancer in certain sites, such as the prostate, breast, and female genital organs. Additionally, lower eGFR was linked to increased all-cause mortality, particularly in females. The study suggests that further investigation is needed to understand these sex differences and their implications. [Extracted from the article] |
