A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Oslo has revealed new findings about the expansion of fauna into the Scandinavian Arctic during the Early Holocene period. The study utilized ancient DNA and osteological analyses of bone deposits found in the Storsteinhola cave system in Norway. The research discovered a high-resolution sequence of 40 different taxa, including species not previously found in the area, providing insights into ecosystem responses to climate warming. This study contributes to our understanding of species responses to climate change and highlights the importance of paleo-archives in the Arctic. [Extracted from the article] |
