This article discusses the usefulness of component-resolved diagnosis in pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS). PFAS is a condition where individuals with pollen allergies experience oral hypersensitivity symptoms when consuming certain raw fruits, vegetables, peanuts, and tree nuts. The main allergens in Fagales pollen are pathogen-related 10 (PR-10) proteins, with Bet v 1 being the most common. This study presents a case of a patient with eosinophilic gastroenteritis linked to PFAS caused by sensitization to PR-10 protein. The patient's specific IgE for soy was detected by the component ImmunoCAP test but not by other tests. The article suggests that component-resolved diagnosis can help guide patients in avoiding certain food items and alleviate symptoms. [Extracted from the article] |
